In the past, I have never encountered any installation issues with any Autodesk product, however the 3ds Max 2021 webinstall cannot even get to the install splash screen. From the education page, there is an option for install, which gives a .dat file, rather than .exe or .msi. The download option gives an error when asked to set an install folder (with the default C:\Autodesk\).
Any help is much appreciated!

I have downloaded all that was available to me, a single 2 GB file installation file, which in that case may be missing something?
This is the file name: Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_001_004.sfx.exe (the 2GB one, which fails to install)
And the .dat file: Autodesk_3ds_Max_2021_EFGJKPS_Win_64bit_wi_en-US_setup_webinstall.dat (There is no program on my computer which opens this file by default)

This new install method is nuts, you have to download four files from four consequtive pop-ups that open at the exact same location on screen and you can only download them one by one (3x 2GB and a smaller file). Who thought that would be a proper customer experience!? Disabling pop-ups is what did the trick, since there were so many....
