Hey guys, i'm occationaly, like at least once a day, having issues with Max freezing on me. I tried leaving it, mayby it'll unfreeze but it's not happening. So like... 4 houres of work lost, 4 houres of waiting for unfreezing, and work day is over. Thank you very much. I can work in the night now.
Mayby you can help me figure out why?...
System setup:
64Gb RAM 2400Mhz
CPU AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X
GPU Geforce GTX 1660 Ti
The freezing happens after I use the subdivide mesh modifier. It was on 50cm, shouldn't be a problem at all, for the selected mesh.
It's "supposedly" bussy, but as far as I know or see, nothing defreezes. Just hangs on me. Like forever.
Hi @ethanAZBRK
Thanks for bringing your question to the forums! I have a few questions to help narrow down a potential cause of these crashes.
I hope we can get this figured out for ya!

I checked your list, everything was done, I'm also using the new Nvidia driver for RTX cards, the supposedly "creator ready drivers".
I'm not looking for the problem "outside" of max atm, but rather at the internal stability of the software 😉
The problem was somewhere in the mesh responding pourly to the subdivider modifier. I can never figure out why cause it simply hangs. There is no chance for a crash report, I have to manualy kill the proces in task manager each time, leaving no room for any report, dumpage, or alike.
"Mayby" the mesh was not clean, and the subdivider basicly flipped out, but then later, it does work, so why did it hang in the first place? Sigh.
Hi,
Nothing back from the OP?
Had a look through the thread and did some digging. I am currently working blind however. I would need to have the scene locally on my PC and do the exact operation in order to properly diagnose.
Otherwise we are going down the route of:
Apart from that there are some other factors that can be explored for troubleshooting this issue:
Happy to go into more detail on any of these.
Thanks!
