Hello
I use dual 4k monitors.
In windows 10 I set the display Scale and layout as 200% (even 150% or 175% are giving the same results)
I suspect this is causing some or all of the following:
when clicking in a menu it appears on a different place from the click.
Rotation constraints are quite difficult to grab as if they also exist in a slightly set off location than what shows.
Application menu sometimes stop responding and it's icon shows on top of all other apps
Hi @Yasdamas,
Thanks for posting here!
There have been some issues with Windows scaling recently at around 175% or greater in 3ds Max. One of which is it being harder to select the Rotation gizmo handles like you mentioned previously.
The Development team has been alerted to this and the scaling compatibility issue has been logged in our internal tracking database as well. In the meantime, the attached article may help with viewing/scaling in 3ds Max while not interrupting any features. =]
(My apologies the link wasn't working so I attached as a PDF for you.)
Please also make sure to update 3ds Max 2017 to Update 2 (2017.2) from your manage.autodesk.com (see instructions for download here) or from the Autodesk Desktop App, as there have been a few Service Packs and Updates released for 2017. =P
It may also help to:
I hope this helps, and thanks so much for your help as well!
Hi Dominique,
thank you for the link
For Windows 10, the latest build does not have advanced display settings, people are complaining about it already https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_desktop/advanced-display-set...
I've noticed that I already have 3dS Max2017.3
Graphics drivers are up to date
still haven't tried the old versions of DirectX have some deadlines looming.
Temporarily, I switched back to 150% scaling although itès very uncomfortable (I use 28" screen) and:
Rotation gizmo is fine now
the user interface still has some glitches; modifiers' roll out sometimes refuses to open and other roll outs appear far from their place.
Is there a way to reset user interface without having to rewrite all the shortcuts and custom quads? actually I guess the UI did a rest on it's own when I changed the scaling in windows...
I'm having this issue when I use more than one display (all 4k, all with the same settings). I have my scale only set to 150%, and don't have an "Advanced sizing of text and other items" option in my display settings. Right-click menus and drop downs don't display at the mouse cursor, but only when I have different max windows on different displays. If I have them all on the same display, it works fine. Hoping this gets fixed soon!
I'm using 3ds max 2017, Windows 10, (3) 27 inch 4k monitors set to 3840x2160 and 150% scale and layout.
I'm at the latest graphics card driver for my 1070, and keep Max up to date with the manager. I was hoping Autodesk would see my post as well and get a fix done quicker.
Sorry, I mistook the title of the post for something you wrote. was replying directly from email.
It was such a disappointment after getting two 4k monitors to know the software does not follow.
I'm trying to remember how this issue stopped, sometimes it's worth it throwing a complaint to the card manufacturer.
