3ds Max 2017 not importing CATproducts

Max (3ds Max 2017 SP3) is refusing to import CATproducts.

File > Import > Select CATproduct > Open

Then the import settings dialog (that I usually see when I import cgr's) pops up.

Then... nothing.  It just blinks out immediately and my scene is empty.

It's been a while since I have imported CATproducts but I don't recall seeing the cgr import settings dialog.  Usually it's a bigger dialog box where you can see the progress.

But that dialog doesn't appear.  Just... nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello @Anonymous ,

Possibly they were created with a newer version of whatever makes CATProducts files released after 2017.  If they made any changes to how the format works under the hood, it might cause a problem like you describe.  

Have you tried other settings in the Hierarchy Mode?   What if you convert to mesh?  Anything?
