3ds max 2016 issues

With 2016 whenever i select an object it appears to move in the viewport, making me very nervous that nothing will actually be where it should be (even when the move tool isn't active)

Also when selecting an object the view seems to teleport to some random corner of the model of fades out....

Ive tried it on ortho/perspective and every viewstyle.

Really starting to annoy me! any fixes???

I looked into it further and apparently that does not fix it either although it appeared to at first.  Very annoying behavior.  It won't do it when your snaps are turned off though or when you see the snap active on the object before you move it.

The only way i have found to stop the viewport jumping, is either keep it in perspective mode, or use max 2015, when i save the file in max 2015 it works fine.

I think the issue may be caused by having "Display Selected With Edged faces" in the Viewport Configuration Menu, as I have only expierenced the isee with the aforementioned option checked.

hi,

still have the issue even with display with selected edges turned off.

Screencast

https://screencast.autodesk.com/main/details/2a1579ec-889a-4cb5-ab4e-d66b45e720ab

file of the screencast attatched.

This does not happen with the file in max 2015.

Eventualy got this from autodesk.

.....The issue of the Viewport jumping around is a known issue and is logged with our development team as case number BSPR-17302.

No eta determined for a fix date yet.

I have had to go back to max 2015, way to many issues with 2016.

Hi, I find the cause, or a way to ease off the problem at least.

Change to Perspective, click on "Zoom extends selected", change to Ortographic, and click again in the "zoom extends selected" button. This resets the zoom, so, with no variation in persp and orto types, the viewport works correctly.

Better than import/export, but Autodesk should fix this problem, its very unconfortable and never seen something like that in other versions. 😞

Same problem here and in two different machines (one with Windows 7 and another with Windows 10). Both computers have same hardware except for GPU (one is a nvidia 660Ti and the other one is a 780Ti). I have installed the service pack as well but the problem persist and its a REAL BIG issue that makes impossible to work. It doesnt happens on Max 2013 and 2015.

Still getting this problem.

if any form of coord shift or movement of objects is perfomed, the viewport jumping around occurs!

Out of interest anybody with this problem using mm as system units in a big scene?

I don't think autodesk with ever fix this, 2016 has increased viewport speed,  guessing they sacrificed some accuracy for speed and caused this problem. Still using 2015 over 2016 because of this, even though i have paid support its still not fixed.

You absolute legend, I've been trying to solve this issue without importing and exporting for days. It's a shame that I'm using 3Ds Max 2018 and they still haven't solved the issue. I'm seeing most people encounter this problem when they have units like mm which was not the case for me as I was using metres. Thanks a lot for your solution 🙂

Turning off the ViewCube seems to prevent this problem.
