3ds max 2016 crashes, CONSTANTLY

Augh, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here. I have 3ds max 2016 on Windows 10 and it crashes all the time when I do random stuff; when I save, apply random modifiers, move something. Honestly I need a solution, otherwise I don't think I can keep using this program. I've looked up a couple possible solutions but nothing seems to work. Did I do something wrong? Is this just a buggy program? I mean, pardon my French but it's really starting to f**king p*ss me off. Literally all I'm trying to do is rename some bones (I NEED to rename these bones, there's no way around this) and I cannot even finish this because it's always crashing. Please, somebody help me out.

II'm having the same problem, it just keeps randomly closing (no actual error report). In fact, I even tested and have seen it happen without doing ANYTHING. I opened Max and opened my program. And then just sat back and left the computer alone and after about 10 minutes it just closed. I see a lot fo this being blamed on AMD, I am not using an AMD card, I have a 980Ti

If it crashes constantly no matter what you do then it will be difficult to suggest a solution.

I'm mostly still on max 2015, but I do have max 2016 too and I can't say I find it particularly unstable...

If it crashes all the time in a particular scene containing some particular object / thing- like your scene where you're renaming bones, then thats another thing, probably a more isolated bug.

If its general instability, there are a ton of things to try, but that was kind of my point, its hard to suggest anything constructive..

In general, you have your common list of stuff to check:

*Do you have the latest service packs for max instaled? 2016 was one of those rare versions thet actually got 3 SPs.

*Do you have previous max versions working ok for comparison?

*Is your computer hardware otherwise completely stable? (Mem test etc)

*Do you have the latest drivers for your Gfx card?

*What IS your hardware config? How much RAM? GPU? etc..

*Are you on a network? If so, is max affected by any network paths etc..

Also.. you could always download a 2017 trial and see if you have the same problems...

Stuff like that... Good luck

If you're using a Wacom tablet that can also cause instability in 3dsmax and Windows in gerneral. After I removed the tablet and returned to using a mouse, I've noticed considerably better stability.
