3ds Max 2013 does it work under Windows 11 or Windows 11 Pro?

My PC that I build back in 2013 unfortunately died this week, it was a nice machine with dual Xenon processor, but I was unable to get it to work so I am now forced to buy a new machine.

Unfortunately, all new machines come with Win11 or Win11 Pro. My concern is my legitimate copy of 3ds Max 2013 may not work with this machine. Before I make this large investment, does anyone have any experience with this old version of 3ds Max on this OS?

I know this is an old version of 3ds Max but I am not a commercial artist and as you can imagine, I spend a lot of money purchasing it in the first place and it basically does everything I need. I would rather not have to buy both a new computer and a new 3ds Max so please response if you know the answer.

Thanks ahead for your help.

I might have found a means to get 3dsMax 2020 running on Windows 11 on my own PC at home, but without Admin permissions on this System, I didn't stand a chance in hell of doing so. The moral of the tale is that you could always give it a try and see if it works (since it seems like you have no other option), but I wouldn't count on Autodesk to offer you any help for such an outdated version (no offence intended to 3DSMax 2013). Only the most recent version and the three versions before it are supported.

I have bought a lottery tp upgrade my computer set up.

I am good! As mentioned, I brought my new computer and I am just going to try the old 2013 Max, failing that, I will just go ahead and buy the Max 2023 Indy version and go with that. If I do that, I will have to learn the new software as I am sure it will be vastly different.

Yes, it's all a lot of money....

My ThinkStation P360 arrived yesterday, and I got it up and running. 3dsMax 2013 definitely runs under Win 11Pro with no problem. This machine is like grease lightening compared to my dual Xenon. My only problem of course is activation. As most knowns, auto activation does not work for these old products, so right now I am only running it under "trial" mode. But I do have a request to Autodesk for manual activation, so I hope I hear from them soon.

In the meantime, thank you everyone for your help. I will likely still upgrade to 3dsMax 2023 Indi version soon as soon as I get done with the book I am currently working to finish!

Just final feedback on this thread. With the help of tech support at Autodesk, I was able to activate my old 3ds Max 2013 on my new Win 11 Pro computer. I checked and everything now works as before. I am a happy camper!
Thanks again everyone!
