[3D's Max 2017] Materials missing after re-open a project

Hello,

sorry for my bad english and the inconvenience, i have some trouble with my software when i opened a project again. I have looking for on internet, but i didn't find nothing.

The problem is that when i put my texture for the first time on my project, then i saved and close. If i open again the project, all texture are missing.

Maybe i though it was a problem coming from user path, etc... i tried and nothing :c

i have a student version too

Thanks !

you have not move the textures to another location example to another folder? if this is the case the you need to set a configure a user path to that location link https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/3DSMa...

if this is not the case then ignore the link,

have you installed the lastest service pack and hotfix from the autodesk update page??

you should not need to reinstall every single autodesk program if the problem is with the material editor only because IMHO you be wasting your time, and the problem will still occur with the material editor (maps/textures

Do you get a error message when you open up your scene/model? if so what does it say,

i've got nothing like a message or something else. It's just when i open the project again, all my models with texture (bitmap) last time has no longer texture and appear transparently. That's why i though it was a location path issue :c but when i set the correct path, and if i create again a new material and apply the texture to the model, then it doesn't work anymore, i need to re create a new project.

I'm not sure if create two users path one will conflict with another to the same location,

have you tried merging the model into a new file and then re-add the textures? if this works then it's likely to be with the scene file your currently using? not saying it is it's likely

how to merge a scene file

i'm using a template file from IMVU (it's a game where you can do some kind of 3D creation) : the link here

i need to keep the original file, because there is some settings in that i need when exporting the creation and i'm not skilled as well for trying different way :x

IMHO just because you merge a old scene into a new scene file doesn't mean you will lose anything, the only thing i am worried about is if you have animation key on your scene file that MITE BE inactive?

due to i have a lower verison of max i cannot view your scene file. so you have to wait into someone else chimes in and maybe help you out more. all i can do is suggest some paths to take.

ok i'll try to merge file, there is animation but it doesn't matter in my case. And the file is for 3ds max 2007 or higher

Thanks for answering

oh well you reinstalled it now you lost your display drives when i told you not too, go to custom, preference viewports under the display drivers you see  "currently installed drivers example software", choose drivers box that option now choose revert too, click on that box you need to choose your VGA card whether you have direct 3d or openGL, you would need to look in your VGA card manual or on the VGA card manufacturers to see which one you have if not know. now put the black dot in the correct one. then click on ok 3 times to close down all them boxes you opened up and restart max and reopen it then you should be back to the way you were before you reinstalled max

It's okay my first problem is gone by reinstalling the software, and the second too by setting correctly the viewport (Per-View configuration and check the shadow case, idk why it was unchecked). Thanks for helping me, have a good day !
