Hi,
Ahh, ok I understand now.
Your process sounds quite convoluted, and perhaps backwards to conventional uses. 3DSMax is not really meant to be used in such a way; Users don't usually build the model in 3DSMax then export to something else for the sections and plans. Ideally the model would be drawn up in Revit or AutoCad first, and then linked into 3DSMax for its visualisation features.
Revit far surpasses 3DSMax in its technical ability to produce plans and sections etc. If you are going to be doing this regularly, you would be wise to change up your creation process.
That said, yes you can export to DWG from 3DSMax. And inside AutoCad you can 'Flatshot' the 3D Model to create 2D linework. Also to create sections, you could try to utilise 'Slice' Modifiers in 3DSMax so as to create sections.... which will need to be collapsed before exporting to DWG. Basically, it sounds like a nightmare way of working with 3D Models. You have to deal with differing scales, file formats, object orientation, making sure to have everything aligned orthographically. You will not get linetypes, thicknesses, etc... all of which will have to be recreated in the secondary program. It is entirely possible, but it will take a lot of time, frustration and inaccuracies most likely ending in a sub-par end result.
It would be as well for you just to spend a day or two learning the basics of Revit instead. Revit and 3DSMax play really nice together. If something changes in your design, it is instantly reflected in both packages. Unlike having to constantly rip your hair out exporting from 3DSMax, if something changes.
I cannot endorse Archicad as it has been over a decade since I last used it. There may well be some other package that will import 3DSMax to technical drawings, but I have never heard of such software.
I just tried to export my current 3DSMax scene to DWF format, and then view online with the Autodesk Online DWF viewer. Initially this looks like it might work. I can create sections. But, when I go to export the results there is no option to export to DWG. All I can do is print to PDF. And unfortunately the PDF is Raster not Vectors.. so it is useless in AutoCad, unless I draw on top of the bitmap image and only use it as a guide. 😞
