Transfer bone weights between two models, different files, same skeleton

I think what I am asking is pretty unique. The thing is im working on a Rome 2 mod and the tool that extrats the game models give a skeleton which is the same as the skeleton of the reference file(at least bone naming) So i made a new model on the reference file(which is a max file) and i want to copy the bone wheights of a game model to my new model. My first idea was to use skin wrap so when i tried to import the game model to the reference max file, the skeletons, while being the same, didnt match or max didnt recognize its the same skeleton. I prefer to think its the last one and thats why im asking for help. The bones that are added on the skin modifier of the game model exist in the reference file so I want a way of importing the model with the skin weight "compatibility" to the reference max file. Importing the helpers(bones of the model, in the skin modifier) give 4 options, cause they are named the same as i said already. Merge, Autorename, skip and delete old, none of those options work for me. I want the game model imported to the reference max file, the game model has a skin modifier with bones that do exist in the reference max file and all this is to do a skin wrap between the game model and the new model which is in the reference file.

Doing all this in the reference file is essential, game engine limit to modding.

So what should I do?. The final objective is: import game model with skin weights applied(intact) to max file where NEW model is and the do a skin wrap between game model and new model. Its the first thing the one i cannot do. Any ideas?

If there are other ways of doing it, let me explain myself in an other way: I need the weights of a model which is in file A copied to a model which is in file B and the two files have the same skeleton(at least bone naming). So my initial idea is to import model of file A into file B, but I dont know how to import the model with skin weights(its the same skeleton in two files but with differences, bone names are the same though).

btw im using 3ds max 2013 64 bits fyk
