rotation along one axis problem

Hi.

Might I missed something, but seems to me a bit weird. So let's go to try this test.

I create a point helper, rotate it to a random angle along all axis. Then I will create a key, press local rotation, move the time bar to frame 100 and rotate the point along one axis, it doesn't matter which one.

I would suppose that when I will play this record, the point will rotate just along one axis, but not. It has just the start and the end position, but rotation between these points is random, so It is not rotation along one axis which I would like to have.

How can I repair it? I have already tried to switch rotation controller from Euler XYZ to Linear Rotation, which solved the rotation issue, but then I can't see any keys in Track curve editor...

Oh...Any help will be appreciated

You need 2 objects. Create your Point helper, create the rotational animation ONLY - don't apply any other rotation. Create a Dummy, align it to the Point. Select and Link the Point to the Dummy. Rotate the Dummy to whatever crazy angles you want. Play the animation. The Point will continue to rotate only around one axis.
Leave all the Controllers at their defaults, and I hope you didn't click "Make Default" when you changed the Rotation Controller. If you did, go put it back to what it should be (Euler XYZ) otherwise every object you create from now on will have TCB rotation...

It's called Gimbal Lock. This youtube explains it well: Gimbal Lock

But as for solutions, go with the one already stated Smiley Happy
