No Tweens When Keyframe Animating

The latest version of max is behaving very strangely for me and I have no idea if it's something I have done or this version does not like my machine (Alienware Aurora).

I can set keyframes but when I replay animation all I get is jumps from one keyframe to another - check the video please.   If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.  Best regards. Richy

BTW If I render the whole segment I get lots of first frame positions and one of last frame position.

The behavior you are getting seems to be the result of the type of key/in out tangents being set as "Step" . 

I don't know why it the key was set as step based on what you did in the video except via the default new type key/in out tangent setting (see below).  When I use auto key,  the key type defaults to this curve type that produces the tween behavior you are looking for.   I had thought that this curve type tangent is the out of the box default for max, so maybe yours somehow got changed to "step". 

So you need to change the type of keys you are setting.   To change the default setting for new keys check here:

Total face palm!   I don't remember changing it but I must have done at some point.  You are spot on correct.   Thanks a million.   When you get frustrated with a problem you often overlook what is right in front of you.    I'll put the video drivers back to Direct X now ... I was desperately trying everything.  Best wishes from Scotland.
