Does it work?

I can't get a peep out of the MIDI Channel Viewer in the Motion Capture/controller dialog and mappings don't work.

  • I've tried inputs from my Oxygen8 v2 controller keyboard, a Teenage Engineering OP-1 and a Novation Bass Station II.
  • Tried various MIDI channels, CCs and notes across all devices, no joy.
  • I've installed MIDI-OX to confirm the channels, CC numbers and that the devices are transmitting MIDI, all looks fine.
  • All of the above work fine in Ableton.

I suspect it might be to do with Windows 10 underlying MIDI capabilities (incapabilities?), there's no MIDI mapper any more so I tried CoolSoft MIDI Mapper and VistaMIDI to set the default to my controller, nothing worked. Max only seems to give the option of setting the MIDI channel, so I'm assuming Max is assuming the OS will handle devices.

Is there some piece of the puzzle I'm missing? MIDI control would save me a heap of time on my current project so I'd really like to get it working.

Thanks!
