Duplicating a rigged and skinned charachter

I've rigged and skinned a character with bones and skin modifier. It works perfectly.

Now I'm trying to duplicate it but the geometry pops out of place whenever I try to move the newly created geometry(with control objects).

I suppose it's a problem of names assigned automatically which don't correspond to the linked/skinned nodes.

How can I avoid this, obtaining a simple working clone of my geometry/rig?

Or could you upload your scene file?

Easy. Use Skin wrap. In your case, copy the mesh. Delete skin and other modifiers.  Make a pose copy of Biped or a .fig file and paste it to new biped. Then follow this great tutorial :

Oops. Didn't see you use bones. Make sure you can copy the bones, then it should still work (I think)

Merge the rig from the source file into the file you are using and choose ot not rename any objects.
