Do I need biped nubs and how to write text

I understand these two questions together look weird but I didn't find answers for any of them.

1) Biped has Nubs. Do I need it? I use Skin modifier. I don't want to keep useless stuff on the character. These nubs really annoy.

2) I want to write notes about what I plan to do with the objects, kind of notebook that opens when I load the file. How to do it?

so, answering my own questions, again.

1) No answer on the web, probably no one bothered with it. but Autodesk knowledge base says it is required for Physique and nothing about Skin, and Biped is a bit sensitive thing so I better leave it as is.

2) No such tool other than "pop up note" which is added from "customize user interface" section and not what I'm looking for.

Hi @Anonymous,

sorry for not getting an answer 😞

For Biped Nubs, no you don't need them for Skin. They are used by Physics indeed, as Physics always needs a 'child' node to be able the weight a bone, so end bones all have Nubs. Skin does not require them.

They are part of biped thought, in Max you cannot remove them 😞 You may leave them hidden. You don't need to add them to Skin.

For Notes, in general, people (and I too) use Text shape object. It does not pop-up in the scene but can be seen in the view port as a note.

I hope this can be of some help 🙂

I didn't know about Text objects, so I can use it sometimes, I think. But not very comfortable, it can be zoomed out and gets too small or zoomed in and it gets too big. I thought there was something like FruityNoteBook tool in FL Studio. I think 3DS Max should have a good tool for adding notes to projects.

Thanks for the answer! You clarified some things.
