Curve Editor not showing keyed Tracks (Animation Layer)

Hi,

have a look at the Screenshot! Any idea why I can't see the curve of the Y Position Track? It's animated e.g. has keys like shown in the Timeline or Key Info. I know there are Animation Layers, but it's unnecessary if Base Layer or Walkcycle is active. Curve Editor don't even show any green y position track.

Thanks for your input.

The timeline only shows you whether there are any Pos keyframes (in red color) or Rot keyframes (in green color). It does not show you whether they are X, Y, Z without expanding it.

So maybe there simply are no keys on the Y position track, and you have configured Trackview to only show animated tracks?

Yes, you are right. But there are keyframes on the Y Position. I wonder more why the Curve Editor doesn't show anything like X Position.

There are various possible reasons why it would not show it (Trackview filters, controller type...).

Does it only happen for this object, this .max file, or also for other objects/other scenes?

Could you share a simplified .max (e.g. delete everything but the one object with the keyframes)?

OK, I isolated the object in an empty max-file.

I can see the Y Position on the track "Walkcycle". It is there, but not as a child of the track/list. When I collapse the animation layer, I get a plotted version with keys stamped on every frame.

Can you share that .max file?

You can collapse the controllers in the curve editior via Edit > Controller > Collapse. That brings the Y Position curve back with its keys. But, you still see the whole list of X, Y and Z Pos under the "Walkcycle" track...

I'm rarely new to animation layers. Tried it out to (maybe) to save away my motion tests for skinning but still keep it in the scene.

Thanks, will check later today.

Can you also please share a screenshot of the Filters dialog (top left icon) in your Trackview?

This is what I see when selecting X and opening Trackview in 3ds Max 2026:

Looks good to me...?

It is the 'Keyable Tracks' option in your Filters dialog that removes the track:

Uncheck that box and you will see the track with its curve.

Feels like a bug to me, since that track is certainly keyable...

Yes, there we go! Thank you.

But a bug anyway!? In the 10th post we see what you've seen with "Keyable Tracks" on?

No, that screenshot shows it with "Keyable Tracks" off.
