CAT Parent Rigging Problems

I made a character that was a non-humanoid shape so I decided to make a CAT Parent skeleton in order to rig it.

The problem is, when I apply the "skin" modifier to my mesh and add the skeleton bones, the mesh barely sticks to it, and the "Paint Weights" and "Envelope" editor barely effect it. When I paint the weights, it only paints blue and when I move the arms or legs, it barely move the mesh's arms or legs.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there a better rigging method for this kind of mesh?

Hi Davicous,

there are several ways to skin a mesh but what you descripted sounds like the skinModifier doesn't recognize a bone in whole. Since your mesh is pretty simple you might get good results by using the weightTool before digging more into deep and assign absolute weights on vertexLevel and blend them. You will find the weightTool in the UI of the skinModifier - its the wrench-icon.

Cheers,

Martin
