CAT horse rig spine question

Hello,

I have a CAT horse rig, and i have noticed something that is wierd to me. when animation mode is OFF, i can move both pelvis and ribcage independently from each other. But when animation mode is ON, the ribcage moves freely, but moving the pelvis bone moves everything above the bone (including ribcage)

Is there a way to get these two bones to move independently even in animation mode? this would make animate these 2 antagonist parts easier.

Thanks in advance.

That is because you are in set-up mode which allows you to move them independently to easily fit them to character. I do not believe Biped allows for you to have that behavior during animation, but CAT would. I will try and see if this is 100% true about biped.

hey, thanks for your reply.

I am using CAT, specifically the horse rig  preset.

The thing is with my human CAT rig, i can rotate the pelvis independently, but moving it will also move ribcage. so there might be something to do to make it possible with the horse (at least rotation, eventhough translation also would definitly be a good). they both use the CAT spine system. i just cannot find it 😞

Thanks again for taking the time. ill keep looking on my end.

Hi @Anonymous,

if I understand the issue correctly.

Select the Rig Cage

in Command Panel > Hierarchy > Link Info

For CAT bones, there are setting for Setup and Animation Modes.

I get the impression you are looking for Animation Mode > Inherit Rotation [Off]

I hope this can help, or at least in the right direction! 🙂
