Hi,

I want to move htc tracker to some position without moving it in real world.

Is there any possibility to do that ?

Also I know how to get tracker values and assign to other nodes and move accordingly. But here I want to know if I can move htc tracker in vred.

Method I tried is making the tracker, child of a node this does not work.

Other method is made the one node child of the tracker but this also does not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Best Regards

Harris

Hi Harris,
im curious. Why do you want to do this?
In all my usecases the tracker should deliver a realWorldPosition/Orientation for VR. Why move the tracker in VR?
... If the physical tracker would move with its moved VrRepresentation, that would be nice 🙂
@Anonymous can you make a featureRequest out of it?
@Anonymous pardon me, if this offends you. Its just a joke 🙂

Maybe just move a "copy" of the tracker?

Best regards Marc

Hi Marc,

Well it was something that client asked us to do. The only way to move the tracker is by moving the camera. If you move the camera then tracker will move accordingly. Also I was able to match it to a certain position by just moving the camera programatically.

We did not want to move the object to the tracker position instead we wanted to move the tracker to match the object position. This was the reason for all of that.

So, I think there is no need to create a feature out of it.

Greetings

Harris.

Hi Harris,

ohh i think i understand. We do something similar. We are matching real world positions with vrPositions.
(known realWorldtrackerPositions with known position in the vrScene)
First we started with transforming (nearly) the whole vrScene. Now we are only transforming (the parent of) the camera.
The fact that transforming the (active) camera, transforms the trackers (vrdVRDevice) surprised me.
For you it is the way it should work.
For me it seemed like a bug.
@Anonymous: Do you have some clarification?

If you wear the trackers/controllers in your hand/on your body, it maybe makes sense that they are transformed with the cam.
If they are part of the surrounding world, i think not.

Have a nice day
Marc

Hi Marc,

Well, it seems like camera and trackers has some relation with each other. And maybe they programmed them to be like this. I only have worked with the tracker and did not check any other controller that if they move when I move camera manully from translation in Vred.

Well, I spend a lot of time in making it work for me.

Sorry for a delayed reply.

Have a nice day.

Greetings

Harris

The reason for relative trackers is that when manipulating the camera in VRED, the controllers should move with them. But this mostly makes sense for controllers or other trackers which are somehow connected to the hmd.
