Hi,

Currently, these commands give the data in text documents along with layer name, perimeter, and area. I want them to automatically export to excel in tabular form and with grids. Please help.

Hi,

you have to ask the programmer of that program measure_length.fas,

so look from where you took it.

or use the onboard function
DATAEXTRACTION (Command)

or any other "length export" Tool from www

Thank you for replying. I don't know the programmer as we use these commands to take off the quantities from drawings. I got this from one of my friends. Anyway, my main query was to be able to take off quantities according to the grids mentioned in the drawings.

Don't you think I would have asked first the author if someone knew? I came here to ask for technical help and not common sense. I also tried your methods suggested but they don't give two important things - handle key and grids mentioned in the drawing. See for yourself the file attached.

Most of peoples started a thread like this didn't ask the programmer first, Just guessing: 99.99& doesn't.

...most of users ask for technical help and all the common sense is part of it (for these users)

So the best is: Start a Thread and write down all facts (incl. that you can not reach the <for you unknown> author.

In that case I wouldn't answer like I did. Sorry, but I just tried to help

Why we can not help to change the program:

The file is encrypted and I have neither the desire nor the time for this job.
In addition, encrypted usually means: The creator does not want anyone to change his program 😉

Sorry, but nobody knows your shared programs and how to use them!

You forgot to add a description (the only thing I know is tha MLEN export object length to a .txt file)

So the best ist: Explain much as possible an how to use it = what you want and what you need.

I get it but I am not one of them. I am a Civil Engineer so use these commands to calculate the quantities for different types of works like Civil, Architecture, or Structural Works.

The command name is "MLIST". It gives the layer name, area, perimeter, and handle key. From these attributes, we calculate the quantities. But sometimes our clients want us to give the quantities grid-wise instead of layer-wise. As you can see in the attached video the end result of the command.

Layer: With description... easy to understand 😀 and if I hadn't used layer 0, I would certainly have recognized it myself.

Do you know that you can set up Workflows to create your Excel file incl. all edits by just one click and without editing any tool?

Export every time to the same .txt file (location)

set up a well arranged Excel "template" and a shortcut to import this .txt file into the xls

(because you can import the mlist .txt file in a grid - TAB is the )

Sometimes for custom answers you may have to pay, CADffm is being very helpful to you so dont get impatient.

Sea-Haven doesn't get any money here either, you really should hold back.

I think you read something too much (wrong) into it, actually the post was very nice.

Back to topic:

1. I explained why we can not edit the function

2. I offered a possible workaround for you (excel vba template%macro),

what do you think about it?

3. Feel free to use other programs like this <Click>

(change "," with ";" for semicolon or "\t" for TAB but I think comma is the right choice for a Csv = comma to separate values // and that's it why your current MLIST works the same way - no need to edit something)

That's a really good choice! (but you have to edit other codes than measure_length.fas).

If you can AutoLisp and know the activex object model in AutoCAD and Excel, you can write your own program

(or copy 90% of existing like like other it does)

And: If you are using your own code, you know that this Program doesn't clean your harddisk or similar fancy things 😉

I took two codes from the forum and edited bit for you, it's a good base for edits when you will learned the basic Lisp stuff <PlineProp2Excel attached>
