topic Success move die-hard toolbar users to ribbon. in Visual LISP, AutoLISP and General Customization Forum

Since comming to this company early 2009 I've accomadated toolbar users (most here) by bringing their toolbars into each release. I'd have to admit... I am still somewhat of a toolbar user myself. Since Ribbons were first intoduced, (Release 2009 was it?), they were not well developed and problematic... however, now they are much better. I would like to see if I can't successfully 'convert' these toolbar users to the ribbon. I did just recently start learning how to customize the ribbons.

So I am wanting to start some discussion here around how to do this.

I offer the following starting questions:

I'd like to find a reactor app to collect toolbar buttons that get used. I was thinking... develop a list of some sort that would tell me what toolbar buttons actually get used over time... maybe a complete list of all the buttons, then as they are used (perhaps more than 5 times) eliminate them from the list. Over time that would tell me the buttons that buttons that remain in the list are never used so they could be eliminated. This may also give me one point to incourage a move to ribbons.

Arguments - pros and cons - between Ribbons and Toolbars...
'they take up too much room'
'I can never find what I want in the ribbon'
'the new dark - interface is much easier on the eyes'
'the old toolbars don't look good against the new dark interface'

Lynn Allen on Ribbons... http://www.cadalyst.com/cad/autocad/give-autocad-ribbon-second-chance-23130

I would really like to get all your thoughts... 8-)
