stretching a rectangle or line

Hi everyone,

I'm using Autocad 2015 and have been trying to stretch a rectangle by window-selecting one of its sides. Then I type the length I want, then enter and... the whole rectangle moves instead of being stretched. Same thing happens to lines, it's been driving me crazy.

I haven't had to use Autocad for the past couple of years, maybe there's a setting that I am ignoring. I'd appreciate any input you guys could offer.

If you want to stretch the rectangle. Select 2 vertices by windows crossing, 3 pick points will shows up. Hover your mouse pointer on the middle

pick point and a selection box will show up, select "Stretch". Turn your "ortho on" (F8) and put your mouse pointer on where you want to stretch and

type the distance then press enter. Your mouse pointer position will dictate if the rectange will be stretch or warp.

Thanks for your help, gents, but it didn't work. I know how to stretch the window-selecting way, going right to left, not left to right etc. I've used Autocad professionally for over 10 years before this brief gap in usage. This is something I haven't yet come across.

One thing I just noticed is that I can stretch the sides of the rectangle I used as origin to draw it initially. For instance, if I start drawing the rectangle from its upper left corner, then I can stretch the upper and left sides of the rectangle but not the others (lower and right). If I begin at the lower right, then I can stretch the lower and right sides but not the others.

Is this some sort of weird constraint or document setup feature? Am I missing something?
