VBA to set MTextAttribute Background Mask on and off

I have some existing blocks with Attributes defined as MTextAttributes. I want to be able to toggle, at will, on and off, the background mask. Any one have a snippet of code showing how to do this? (Mtext uses BackgroundFill, but I can't figure out the equivalent for MTextAttributes)

You would probably be out of luck, if you had to do it with VBA/COM API.

OTH, if you do it with AutoCAD .NET API, it would be easy, because in .NET API, you can obtain an MText object via AttributeReference of a BlockReference and manipulate the MText as you need. Another small reason of giving up VBA 😞
