Get DAO work without installing Access

I think this question is asked a little while ago, but I have not seen an
answer to it.
I'm trying to find out how to install the Dao files on my computer without
the need of installing Access. Just copying the files from the directory
Common Files\Dao and register Dao350.dll does not make it work completely.

I'm still getting an error when I create a Database object with
OpenDataBase:
Run-time error 429
ActiveX component can't create object

On machines with Access installed there's no problem.
Does anyone recoqnize this or has the appropriate way to install Dao?

I'm not too familiar with it, but I think you need to download and install
some stuff from Microsoft. Check into the MDAC downloads. Sorry, but I
don't have a link for it.

MS Data Access stuf can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/data/ . If you
are starting a new application, consider using ADO instead of DAO. MS is
dropping support for DAO.

I looked at the MDAC but couldn't find a solution to my problem (I read a
FAQ about a similar error message using DAO in Excel, but the solution (add
a license-key to the registry) didn't do anything in this case. When I
change to ADO, will I get the same problem again (the installation of Access
or VB5.0/6.0 is still needed)?

After you install MDAC (MDAC_TYP.EXE) you will be able to work with .MDB
databases without having to install MS-Access. MDAC includes ADO, and
should still (maybe) include DAO. The doc's are included.
