Jim,

The registry key for the default plot device is:

HKCU\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R15.0\ACAD-1:409\Profiles\<PROFILE name="">\General\DefaultConfig

When setting the default plotter through the AutoCAD profile dialog, the configuration file is always listed with its full path.

When I encountered the problem you've described, I realized that I'm not including the path when setting the default plotter. I'm just using filename.pc3, relying on the support paths to resolve the location.

I only found this today and still testing, but it seems to be working so far.
I'm trying to set the DefaultOutputDevice to a certain PC3 file. I tried
using the example code to set the device. Everything seems to work fine. I
can create a layout, but as soon as I click on the layout to activate it, I
get the "AutoCAD Severe Error - File not Found" message and have to end task
to close Acad.

Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Oops. I am actually unable to set the path for the default output device. Yesterday I was only playing with the registry.

If the registry entry doesn't specify the path, I see the Severe Error.
