missing Xref when trying to open file. How do I bypass this

HI All,

I'm trying to iterate through a list of files and open each one, through =
VBA.

The problem is, when trying to open a file that has an Xref missing, the =
script stops and prompts the user to point to the missing file. I, of =
course, would just press Cancel.=20

Is it possible to bypass this prompt, and just continue the script? Is =
there a way to turn off notifications?

You could try the "Push the Freakin' Button" utility by Paul Roberts

Don't know if it will work but I don't think there is any other way to get
around that missing Xref dialog.

Thx for the response. Very nice utility, however, i don't think it is a
viable option in this case.

I have found ways to suppress other dialogs in ACAD. Do you know of any
other system variables that may accomplish this feat?

I don't know of any other way around that dialog box.

FileDia, CmdDia, Expert ... none of those work for the Xref dialog.

The PTFB utility works for me. MDT displays the path of the missing file in
the title bar so I use a wild card in PTFB's "Target Description".

depends upon what version and howw much programming you want to do. If
you are pre2004, you could use ODX by the OpenDWG Alliance. What you
would need to do is 'pre-open' the file by opening it via ODX, resolve
the xrefs, save/close in ODX, then finally open in AutoCAD/MDT. Long way
around to avoid the dialog but it should work ~ depending upon how your
whole program flows.

Mike,

I'm looking for similair procedures. I'm sure
that it exists as a application level or document level event, and could assign
a Class Module to handle the event. However, I've yet to find one for your
needs, nor mine (missing font files, and others)... I would also like to
cancel, or substitute.

Less complicated than a class module; I could have
sworn to have read a switch to turn off or at least ignore prompts on open from
vba.

Please post again if you find a solution (in vba),
and I will do the same.
