Migrating from Vault 2020 to 2024 without a extra Server

Hi,

Can I migrate a Vault Basic 2020 (running on windows 2012) to Vault 2022 on a Windows Server 2022? Or do I need to migrate on a Server 2019 and then go to the Server 2022 to migrate to 2024?

So, do I need an in-between Server 2019 to migrate from 2020 to 2022 to 2024?

Check out system requirements for 2020 and 2024 and compare with your current environment. You should be able to make a plan from that info.

SQL might be the restriction for the jump. If your Windows Server 2012 has SQL Server 2016 or below which is not supported by Windows Server 2022. See the table here:

Here is my recommendation.

Yes, install Windows Server 2022 on the destination server.
Install SQL Server 2017 minimum. This SQL version is supported with Vault 2020, 2022 and 2024. It is also supported on Windows Server 2022.
Install Vault 2022. Yes, this is not supported on the Windows Server 2022 OS, but this is not your final version. 2024 is the final version of Vault.
Restore a backup from the 2020 server.
Migrate the backup to 2022 on the Windows Server 2022 machine.
Upgrade immediately to Vault 2024 and migrate.
