Okay, I have created a test file, checked it in, and then checked it back out. Vault pro/thick shows the file properly checked out with a strikethrough.

The screen shots attached are from Thin Client. Where any user can fully access whatever the last version in Vault is. Prior to 2022, it would display a strikethrough and not allow them to even view the file. This all came about because a designer was revising a drawing and had it checked out. Purchasing went to buy that part and got the drawing from Vault, without realizing that drawing should not be able to be accessed as it is being worked on.

Currently using Vault Pro 2022 and Thin Client 2022. When a file is checked out, the thin client users are still able to access the file. Prior to 2022, they would see the file with a strike out and be unable to access a file that was checked out.

I am aware that using lifecycle states can bring back this function, but I really do not want to use lifecycle states.

Any solution?

Long shot, but see if it makes a difference when enabling (or disabling) "Show latest version of file only", in the Thin Client's admin settings:
https://help.autodesk.com/view/VAULT/2023/ENU/?guid=GUID-3C037673-084A-4C1F-B1DA-E1283EF1281D

Can you please show some screen shots of what you are experiencing?

I am not clear on what you mean by "..access the file."

When a file is checked out, any user can see the file, as long as they have permission, and it should indicate that the file is checked out as you stated with the strikethrough. This never prevented the user from downloading the previous version of the file.

For example, if a file is at version 9, and a user checks out the file, making version 10, if the user has the Download and Read permission for the state of the file, then the user would be able to see version 10 and download version 9. Technically, there isn't a version 10 of the file until it is checked in.

Thanks for the clarification.

I will have to check if we showed the strikethrough in the Thin Client and if so what happened to it.

However, the user is not accessing the "Checked Out" version in the View tab because it doesn't have a file in the server associated to that version. It is showing the previous version of the file in the viewer until the new version is checked in.

So if I were using lifecycle states and I checked out version 9 of a file, it becomes a work in progress and not viewable in thin client. As soon as its checked in Version 10 would be created and upon state change to release, Thin Client would be able to view it.

Without lifecycles, if I checked out version 9, no other thick client user can even view version 9 in thick client, but thin client still has full access to version 9.

Yes, I know thick client users can view previous versions of a file. They cannot however view the checked out version which is important. And Thin Client users definitely should not be able to view the checked out version (and we just have it set up that they cannot view previous versions).

If version 3 is in "Work in Progress" and you don't want Thin Client users to see these files, you have to turn on the option "Show released files only". This assumes that version 2 is in the Released State.

If you don't have this option turned on users will see that latest version of the file, version 3 in Work in Progress.

However, the View tab will show version 2 of the visualization file.

Here is what I agree with and am checking on.

The strike through on a checked out file is not visible. I am checking if this was true in 2022 and what happened to it.

Viewing version two of the visualization file in this example is misleading. As you stated, and as the thick client shows, you should not see a viewable when the "Show latest version of file only" is turned on.

That top options is for files with lifecycle states. I would rather not be using lifecycle states. Files with lifecycle states work correctly and do not display when "work in progress" Also, I am currently running 22, so you'd have to check prior to the UI overhaul which I think was either 20 or 18.

I appreciate your help.

I have checked with our development team and we did not implement font changes in the new Thin Client as it is completely read-only.

We also intentionally show the latest committed version in the viewer when a file is checked out.
