That's a shame. I've been trying to get it to work (unsuccessful).

Scenario:
I have 4 different environments

Basic Vault 2009
Productstream 2009

Basic Vault 2010
Vault manucfacturing 2010

We are using the top two Vault databases but want to transfer to 2010. This means that I have to set up a test environment elsewhere. I already have 2 servers (basic and manufacturing) in use that can't be set up as dual boot.

So how do I create a test environment without Virtual Server (or purchasing new servers)?

There is an increasing requirement for customers to implement Autodesk Data Management Server 2010 in an virtual environment as VMWare or Microsoft Virtual PC

Is this supportet in the Vault 2010 series?

Sorry, but we do not currently support running the vault server (any
version) in virtual environments such as VMWare or Virtual PC.
It is possible to run ADMS in a VM ... it is just not supported. We
sometimes use VMs here for testing certain things ... but we also
occasionally see problems (some critical) that cannot be reproduced outside
of a VM. We only support environments that are fully tested.

Also, you probably don't need a server class machine for a test environment
so a lower-end machine would suffice. I am assuming performance is not
important in your test environments since IMHO, performance suffers
significantly in VMs.
