Thanks Allan.

The explanation sounds okay but I'm going around in circles trying to get rid of these flags. And I can't just turn the column off because opening the odd iam, ipt or idw prompts for updates. So I'm trying to clear all of these but I'm just doing donuts.

My VAR has a copy of of database now and is planning to look at this and other 'dirty files' issues.

Vault 2012 Basic -Status column meaning?

I'm confused about the meaning of the STATUS column (not the Vault Status column). It shows a graphic of a page with a lightning bolt in it. Hovering over it shows a popup about using CTRL+click and this produces a table showing that some parts need updating. However in the Vault tree in Inventor there are no updates required. And when I look at the bolt in question is shows no update needed. So which is correct? See below graphics.

Hey Brendan,

This lightening bolt indicates that some files have been updated outside of the assembly. This means that last time the assembly was saved it did not contain the latest version of those two files. This is not uncommon when we are talking about library files used in a lot of location and in many cases you may not worry about updating the assembly or drawing file because the change is insignificant (does not affect form, fit or function)....

When you now open the assembly and save it this will correct the situation by consuming latest - you do not see anything out of date because by default the latest files are used on open. Once you check out the assembly, save and check back in the assembly the update icon should go away.

Hope this helps.
