Vault Replication - Controlling bandwidth usage

Can we control how much bandwidth is used by a vault replication? We have a perspective client asking if they can control this so as to not choke off other processes using that bandwidth.

Hi Mark,

There are two kinds of replication: workgroup (SQL) replication and file replication. Regarding SQL replication there isn't really any way to control bandwidth usage - as data is replicated in a continuous fashion to keep all workgroups up-to-date. Regarding file replication, you can minimize bandwidth usage via mechanism like controlling what folders are replicated, etc.

In addition to what Paul said, the file replication happens on a schedule you define so you can pull the data from one site to another at whatever time and/or interval you choose.

Our two sites have some sort of dedicated connection between firewalls at each site. I expect that one could get into the firewall settings and control the bandwidth there.

Our case is a little odd, because the only connection between the two sites is for Vault communication.

Anyway, talk to the network folks at the client to see what can be done at that level.
