I'm working on a test server, replicating our Vault environment and testing the upgrade process to Vault Pro 2016. I read in the System Requirements that Vault Pro 2016 requires Windows Server 2012 to operate, however when I go through the "test for system readiness" prior to the 2016 Vault install it says it passes when "checking the operating system"...I'm running this on Windows Server 2008. Is this a bug or is Vault 2016 actually supported on Server 2008?

I'd really like to avoid changing OS's if at all possible.

Thanks

My understanding is that we don't block the install on Windows 2008 Server to provide more flexbility when doing upgrades (you can upgrade the OS before or after upgrading the Vault); but we don't support running Vault 2016 Pro on Windows 2008 Server for production.

If you encounter problems trying to run Vault 2016 Pro on a Windows 2008 Server, then Product Support will request that you upgrade the OS and see if the problem remains.

I know this was only just over a month ago, but did you get your installation on 2008R2 finalized, and did/does it work properly?

I am having a slightly different install issue after upgrading SQL from 2008 to 2012; before doing a complete Vault 2015 uninstall to see if the 2016 installation will then succeed; I was hoping to confirm that there are no glaring issues with Windows server 2008R2 and Vault 2016.

I am working with Vault Basic vs Pro in your case, but I doubt that will influence the Windows server compatability between versions.

Thanks,

R.
