Hi,

Can comments be enforced upon check-in? Also can a drop down list be created for comments when a user does a simple check out/check in procedure?

Thanks!

No and nope. Although if you use Inventor/AutoCAD etc, you can write or have someone write a custom application which can do that. But unless you totally lock down PCs, stuff like that is always able to be bypassed by people who don't like having stuff enforced on them.

As per Neil's answer above, the answer is no, without some customisation.

I would suggest a user training session would be useful to explain the reasons for entering some comments.

Relatable examples would help in ensuring compliance but there is always someone who doesn't want to comply.

Suggested reasons why it's good practice to fill in the comments, I've used:

- So I can remember what I did on a model or drawing a week prior with so many changing priorities

- So that if you're the next user you have an idea why the last user put the <enter object> where they put it

- So that when someone asks you in a month why you made changes, you can show them it's because they asked for them!!!

- As with most things, he who holds the best documentation, holds the best argument.

It may an opportunity to write a user guide for your business.
