Autodesk Vault Workgroup 2016 - Find all used files (idw, dwg, pdf, stp)

Hi all!

Is there a way to search for used/related/linked files in Vault?

Our customer is creating secondary formats (.dwg, .pdf, .dxf and .stp)
They would like to gather all the files in one search for manufacturing.

Later on they might add also Office files (word, excel, ppt) in the list by linking them to certain products.

Also they would need to categorize them by certain iproperties for different manufacturing areas (this is not a problem, only finding the files is).

At least I haven't found a way to find all related files by using search.

I tried to do this in Plotter, but it isn't exactly what I was looking for either, since it's only possible to find the idw's and print them into other file formats and they are using Job processor for that..

I do not believe there is a way in the vault to search for files with references (Used or Where Used), as this information is not available through the search. There is a file property called 'Number of Attachments', but this refers to manually created links to other files. There may be a way to do this through a customized application using the vault API.

That's what I was afraid of.

We have wrote a small app for that, but it has some problems still and wanted to check if it's worth continuing to build the app or is it possible to do with search.. Guess not.
