Changing the root ($) location in an existing Vault

Hello all

Our Vault is named MainVault. For our MainVault, the Project Explorer ($) is located on C:\Users\1001\Documents\Vault.

1001 is my user name. Our users have 1002, 1003, and so on.

Of course, a second user has the Project Explorer ($) at C:\Users\1002\Documents\Vault. (and so on)

Is there going to be any major issue if I change the root ($) location for our existing MainVault from C:\Users\1001\Documents\Vault to C:\Vault? Then, it will be mapped locally to all users at the same C:\Vault\MainVault.

So far, we only have Autocad and Autocad Electrical files, so mainly dwg's. We start checking in Inventor projects and using Library type folders and this C:\Users\1001 directory isnt suitable. The Inventor ipj project gets confused with the working folder.

What do you think?

There shouldn't be any problem changing the workspace. Just check in all files, and then move the workspace to the new place if you have locally saved files that's not in the vault yet. If you don't have any local files not in the vault yet there's no need to move the workspace.

Vault makes references as relative paths, not absolute paths. So moving the workspace will not have an effect.

Hi Irvin,

Indeed, there wasn't any major issue. Unfortunately, there were minor issues where users havent checked in all their files back to Vault, havent read my notifications about the new change coming up and refreshed with latest from Vault while working on an EL project.
