Errors during Get, Copy Design, Rename

Hello,

We sometimes see the following errors during Get, Copy Design or Rename (file/folder):

An exception has been thrown when reading the stream
The token '=' was expected but found '+'. Line1, position 3338464 (this is sample, values can be different)
Name cannot begin with the '=' character, hexadecimal value 0x3D. Line1, position 2417786 (this is sample, values can be different)

We need to try a few times to complete operation error-free. Sometimes messages appear in German.

Did anyone experience similar problems?

Config: ADMS 2017 and SQL Server 2014 are installed on Windows Server 2012 R2 (German). VMWare 5.5VM, 4CPU, 16GB RAM, 600GB disk space single partition.

Have you check the server logs to see if there is an error recorded?

Hello,

Please find attached logs from today and past two days. I managed to recreate the errors today at 09:30AM but I see no entry in the log file.

I ran Vault Diagnostic Tool and all 15 checks were OK.

Screenshot below shows additional frequent error I forgot to mention in my original post: Whitespace must appear between attributes. Line1, position …

We also see "an exception has been thrown when reading the stream" when using "Get" or "Open" in the Vault Client. But without the other errors lines.

Mostly the Vault Client freeze without errors and the process must be killed in the Task Manager. In Vault Prof. 2016 an XLM error did show after restarting the Vault Client. In Vault Prof. 2017 no XLM errors are not there.

Files do download sometimes correctly, sometimes corrupted and sometimes not at all.

It seems to happen only with larger assemblies and with large files.

It does happen on multiple computers but some computer more than others and most users do not have problems.

It also does happen (less frequent) with replicated servers.

Using wifi does work without problems.

No entrees in the log ADMS log files.

Yesterday I also did have trouble to upload large Step files.

The problems did start in January but the problem does increase. On my computer Vault is hardly usable. Till last month I could not reproduce the errors on my system.

Vault Prof. 2017.0.2, Inventor 2017.3.1, Server Windows 2012, User computers all on Windows 7 64bit.

It looks like Vault cannot handle a LAN speed of 1Gbs. After changing the max. speed to 100Mbs problems where gone.

I tried workaround with reducing LAN speed but it didn't work in my case (same errors).

Dear M.Hawryluk

As discussed with your colleague, we had a couple of support cases related to this error message that all turned out to be caused by factors in the network infrastructure. These cases were solved by:

Uninstalling security tools like GDATA antivirus or 'Global Protect' Firewall
Improving poor network performance (caused by using a VPN)

In order to find the causes for slow or unreliable network performance, you can use network analyzing tools like 'Fiddler' or 'Procmon'.

We did find finally the cause of this issue. After turning off Malware protection of the Cisco Meraki portal the issue was solved.

We can now 'get' the files over our 1Gbps network without xml errors and without corrupted downloaded files.
