Cannot preview PDF file in Vault anymore

I have Vault Professional running for many years and I was always able to preview Word and PDF files in the Vault. This worked also in Vault 2017.

Since some time I am using Vault 2018 Professional and today I noticed, I cannot preview PDF files in the Vault anymore.

Word files still are viewable.

I have also a Vault 2017 client running and this one can not preview pdf files either....

I was not able to find the solution in the internet.

I tried the option to turn on the PDF Preview Handler in the Vault options,

I re-installed Acrobat reader

I reinstalled Vault client

Does somebody knows a solution?

Hi There,

I did a quick test to make sure this isn't a generic problem. Tried previewing few PDF's with Vault 2018 on my machine and they seem to be okay, so this looks more of an environment related problem.

My tests were on -

Windows 8.1

Adobe Reader 10.1.16

Vault Professional 2018

Can you please confirm your environment details pls?

I have both 2017 and 2018. I installed https://get.adobe.com/reader/ DC reader from here. I opened the PDF from Client and that opened it in DC Reader. After that I could preview in 2017 and 2018. Can you try that?

On the system of my colleague it also works perfect....

OS: Windows 10 Pro

Vault 2018 Professional (client and server)

Vault 2017 Professional 2017.0.3 (client)

Adobe Reader DC, version 17.009.20044

My colleague has the same as above and no PDF problem.

On your machine, try opening the PDF in Internet Explorer. Does that work?

I have a VM with Vault Pro 2018. I wasn't able to view PDF files in Vault browser. As soon as I Installed Adobe Reader, I was able to preview PDF files.

The issue might be from the Adobe Reader. Try to installed the latest version of Adobe Reader.

I (again) reinstalled Adobe reader (already did that before), but this time with Chrome extension and now it is working again!
