Vault status modifier icon.

(Vault Pro 2015)

Can someone explain to me why one of these files has the (+) modifier, while the other two do not. Yet the green circle says they've all changed?

What's the difference between the green icon and the (+)?

The + means that the local copy of the file has saved edits. I also notice that you a property non-compliance tag next to that file... maybe the local copy had a property change and the Vault copy needs to be synchronized?

I'm still not understanding what distinguishes that from the green circle. When I read the help file, it sounds like exactly the same thing.

The green check mark means your files are checked in.... but this seems to tell us that there are local changes made that have not yet been sent to the Vault. This is from the 2015 "What's New". Is this a better explanation than what you saw in the help? So... the file has been checked in, but then modified and saved, however the changes are still only on the local file. Check the file in again and those changes will be sent to the Vault.

I apologize. I'm feeling kinda thick here.

Per help file:

Check in green circle: "File is checked out to you and the local copy is newer than the latest version in the vault. This typically means that you made changes to the file since it was checked out but have not checked it back in. "

Vault status modifier (+): Local copy has saved edits.

So if the green circle (check or no) is telling me that I made changes to the local file, how can I NOT have a vault status modifier icon?

You should get "+" sign when local file is modified unless local meta data is corrupted. One possibility is that the ".v" file under hidden "_V" folder is missing or bad.

That's almost certainly it. I'm in the habit of deleting that V folder.

But now I know what it's for!

The "+" icon can be useful sometime when the file is locked and has saved edits as well, in which case you will not see the green icon, instead you can see a lock with the "+" icon.

Yes, this is very confusing, why would you have conflicting information, one flag says it is modified, other says it is not, what to make of it?
