Unable to update file references

When trying to Get a file with dependents, I get a Get/Checkout Errors dialog box with the error: "File reference not processed" for each of the dependents. This happens to multiple users with multiple systems types. It appears that the files are downloaded locally, but I'm not confident that they are correct.

The file is a .nwf while the dependents are .nwd files.

Any suggestions?

Do you have Navisworks installed on those machines? This message is saying vault is unable to fixing the reference paths in the parent file. So the links will be broken if the children have been moved or renamed in vault.
