Hi Pia,

Warning: I would suggest working with support or your reseller on this if you are uncomfortable with SQL.

You will have to download Microsoft SQL Management Studio if it is not present on your machine already. You can find it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/download-sql-server-management-studio-ssms . Once that is complete, I would log into the SQL instance and would log out of the ADMS Console if you have not done so already. I am going to assume that you kept the default settings during the install. You can use "sa" for the user name and "AutodeskVault@26200" for the password. Once inside, in the database section only delete the vaults that you created and the KnowledgeVaultMaster. Â Leave the other databases that are present. Â At this point, you will have to go out to where the databases are located and delete them. I believe SQL will have done this but this is a double check measure. Mine are stored in the default location which was "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.AUTODESKVAULT\MSSQL\DATA". You will also need to delete the file store. Again, mine are in the default location which are located "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\VaultServer\FileStore". At this point in time, you should be able to restore the machine.

Warning: Again, I would suggest working with support or your reseller on this if you are uncomfortable with SQL.

NOTE: Autodesk does not recommend going into SQL and changing anything. I am only suggesting this solution since a back-up already exists and the current state requires this action.

Thanks,

Hi James

have tried restore again, but it fails due to vault not being enabled, but i´m not able to do so, the only thing that I can do is move it, but that fails as well.

I´m quiet new to this ADMS consol......

I have tried to delete the few files that it has restored, but no luck, have tried to go in manually and delete the vault but no luck there either......

I have even tried to reinstall and repair, but that did n´t do the trick either.......

do I have to go in to the SQL and remove it there....?

What i´m i doing wrong

Any suggestions

On your server, go to C:\Program Data\Autodesk\VaultServer\FileStore. find the latest .log files that you see and attach them here so that @JamesMcMullen or one of his buddies can look them over. They may tell him what happened.

Shot in the dark, but before you did the restore was the Vault itself enabled? If so, you shouldn't disable a Vault before a backup in my experience.

Do you still have the original server running?

Well if this is a new server there are some gotchas that you have to watch out for. Not sure if this will solve your problem, but it is worth noting.

If you installed the SQL instance before the Autodesk Installation you have to be aware that your version of SQL is compatible with the version of Vault you are running.

You also need to make sure if you did pre-install SQL that you set the compatibility to 2008 and did not leave it at 2012 or 2014. This isn't documented very well, but the database needs to be at that compatibility level.

If you are using SQL Express that comes with the Vault then you can use what Vault automatically installs, but if your old server is using a licensed version of SQL you should stick with that as your amount of metadata may be over the threshold for SQL Express.

What is your current server running and what is the new server running in regards to SQL? What is your database size at right now from your old server's ADMS console information?
