Mapping title block attributes from Autocad to Vault Basic 2017

Our company recently installed Vault Basic 2017. My question is: Can Vault Basic 2017 pull custom block attributes from a title block in AutoCAD?

We followed the links below but are unable to map the desired attributes. We’re able to map drawing properties only. We have enabled the block in the ADMS Console, as well.

Any recommendations or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Our next goal is to eventually pull attribute properties from inventor 2017 and PDF files, as well.

Can you send me a sample Autocad file to test with? Also what updates do you have installed for Vault 2017?

Please look at the Vault Server logs at C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\VaultServer\FileStore to see if there are any errors when adding the Index Block Attribute or when making the User Defined Properties (UDP) in the Vault client.

When you mapped the AutoCAD file did the block Name show up <BLOCK_NAME>.<ATTRIBUTE_NAME>. For example; ACADBLOCK.Draftperson?

Can you send me a sample Autocad file to test with? Yes, I have attached our tittle block with attributes. Please note that we have removed logo and other company information but it won’t affect what we are trying to do.

Also what updates do you have installed for Vault 2017? Version 2017.0.1

When you mapped the AutoCAD file did the block Name show up <BLOCK_NAME>.<ATTRIBUTE_NAME>. For example; ACADBLOCK.Draftperson? No, it does not show up when mapping. Only Drawing Properties show up.

Try this:

In your block in AutoCAD, edit the attribute you want to map to a property and right click, select Insert Field. Select a Drawing Property (if it is custom, you will need to create it first under File\Drawing Properties), and insert it as a field. Check the drawing in to Vault. Now go to the Map Properties screen again, and for the corresponding Vault property, map it to that drawing property. Set the Vault property to Create = Yes. That way if the property is not present in your AutoCAD file, it will be created when you Update Properties. The field in your block will pull the Value from Vault when you use Update Properties. Any manual changes made to that attribute in the block will remove the field, so keep that in mind... it will no longer be linked to the Vault mapping.

This video shows how to use insert field, in the Vault I am showing you the mapping... it was already set up in mine so all you see if the finished mapping.
