place from vault to assembly

having trouble placing from vault to an assembly not working for 2019 I had 2017 at first but upgraded to 2019.

when I open place from vault tab I get a folder icon with $ sign. when I place my PN# in the search window it go's to Basic Search Results

What you describe is the normal operation of the "Place from Vault" command. The "$" represent the root folder of the Vault and after a search, the results are shown under "Basic Search Results". It you want to use the advanced search you will need to click on the icon.
