ASPX file failed to run at URL: 'http://localhost/TestASP/TestASPNet.aspx

Have an issue with Vault Basic server 2018 where after a Windows Server 2012 R2 update, users could not connect to the Vault. I've been through all the help on the url given, however none of the solutions work.

After Googling this issue, it appears NET Framework 4.7 could be the culprit. I uninstalled KB3186539 update, however that did not solve the problem.

I have since restored the server from an image before the Windows update to get back up and running, however, I know the update will just be installed again.

I even tried to uninstall Vault 2018 and replace it with Vault 2019 (where I see it installs NET Framework 4.7 from the Autodesk install media), however I received the same error message in the installation pre-checks, and received the same url help page where none of the solutions worked.

Has anyone else run into this issue, and do you have a solution?

Did you try to run a repair on the Vault Server installation? This could reset IIS and fix the problem.

This article is specifically about Windows 10 but could help in this case.

Hi @edarlak thanks for posting to the Vault Forums. This is a very interesting situation you have and I appreciate all the steps you have tried so far. This ASPX file check can be frustrating to troubleshoot.

Did any of the suggestions from @ihayesjr help you out? I have seen Windows updates change the permissions on user accounts and folders that Vault requires. I would do as @ihayesjr suggests and try repairing the Vault Server installation and review the temporary asp.net folder. The link to the Under the Hood blog post explains that a bit.

Let me know if you are still facing this issue or if you have questions about any of this.

For the IIS Application Pools (AutodeskDMPool, AutodeskFSPool, AutodeskTCPool), under the Advanced Settings verify that "Load User Profile" is set to "True" and after making the change, do an IISRESET.

I have not tried any of the recommendations because when I restored the vault server from an image, I turned off windows updates, kicking the can down the road until we upgrade to Vault 2019.

If windows happens to force any updates that cause the error to reoccur, I will try the ideas put forth in this thread.
