Once we setup SSL on the Vault server the ADMS and AVFS will not replicate files

If I have a valid certificate-issuer they won't be able to certify the hostname, they simply won't allow this. A self signed cert is not a viable option we have to use official certificates. Now I have no way of syncing my file server with my main server when I need encrypted traffic. Please help!!

"When ADMS and AVFS replicate files it connects using the hostname instead of the FQDN, if the SSL Cert does not have both names the two servers cannot connect."

Why does it do it this way??? Why use the hostname here? I hav'nt even entered that info on the AVFS, so it apparently gets that info from the ADMS via the proper https adress?!?

My setup is connecting 2 servers on different locations, I even had to configure the hosts file so that it finds the server via the hostname!!

Hi @haw

Thanks for reaching out via the Vault forums. Starting in Vault 2019 AVFS replication when using SSL should work when using a cert that only lists the FQDN of the server.

What version of Vault are you currently using? If it is 2019 I would take a look at this article about this issue and double check the configuration:

Also please be sure to update to 2019.1 as it includes some critical fixes for AVFS replication.

I hope the steps in the article help but let me know if you keep seeing errors.

Spent all my weekend updating my servers but I get the same Errors in 2019.1.1 :(. It still seems to be routing through a https adress with only the local servername. Wich I don't have a certificate for and my customer can't add that to their official vault.companyname.com adress certificate!

Please help!!

Thanks for the follow up and completing the upgrade. From the error message you sent it looks like the Vault web.config or the SiteConfiguration.xml might not have the server's FQDN updated after the upgrade to 2019.

Please follow the guide here to update all the configurations with the server's FQDN:
