Hello

There are 3 old separate vaults - the data is from old projects - it may or may not be needed in the future.

Being separate Vaults means restoring then to 3 VM's - 3 operating systems, 3 sql licenses - for data which may not be access (or accessed infrequently).

I know this idea is a bit crazy but I'm after a sanity check.

Get latest on all Vaults.

Copy the Vault Working folder data to one machine(keeping the folder structure).

Make the folder read only.

Obviously the search function would be lost.

Using autoloader to add 300 GB to a new 2020 vault may take months to clean up data from 3 combined vaults.

The saving would be 2 off VM's o/s & sql

Regards

Andrew

Hello Chris

I've been away from Vault for a while (2014?) & currently thinking about how 3 vaults can be combined.

The change is being forced by old projects in Windows 7 & Server 2008 going end of life.

I've seen a later post:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/vault-products/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-merge-vaults-from-multiple-servers.html

& currently reading up.

I've a week to figure out how to archive data which may or may not be needed.

Thanks for the reply

Regards

Andrew

Hello Chris

Currently there are 3 old vaults on 3 adms servers.

They are currently being migrated.

I think I can set up a new adms to hold 3 vaults

Restore a backup from 1 of the old vaults then just copy the other 2 onto the new vault.

(which will lose version history - but that's fine. Everything will be purged anyway).

Hopefully will have this sorted before month end.

Regards

Andrew

Looking through the thread I am not exactly sure what state you are at.

Your original post seems to be the best approach to me. Backing up and restoring to other servers seems to be too much for what you are going to do in the end.

Do a get on the existing server installation and use Autoloader to load them into the final server.

Saves you a lot of unnecessary work of backing up and restoring to another server.

To answer your last question, yes you can restore databases from a Standard version of SQL to the Enterprise version of SQL. But based on what you are trying to get to, this seems to be unnecessary work as I previously stated.
