Every time I open a file in Inventor a dialog box comes up that says "Updating file status from vault". In most cases it is not a big deal, but when an 1000+ part assembly is opened this box flashes for each part in the assembly causing a delay in opening the file. And sometimes, it updating 2 times... Needless to say this is very annoying.

So my questions are what is this doing exactly and can I turn it off or do something to speed it up?

Hi gma,

Can you take a screenshot of this dialog? Vault needs to get file status from server if you are logged in but it should only do that for the files it needs to show a status icon. It's usually the files expanded in vault browser and for a newly opened file it's the root file and the first level children.

We have attached dxf and pdf to every file. So when we opened a large file, it scanned all the files that were in the pdf and dxf folder. Our autodesk supporter solved this by disconnecting the folders in the vault ... how, I do not know, but I can not see the dxf and pdf folders anymore, but the files are still attached. I need to log in as a specific user to see the folders ... The problem has been sent to autodesk but they have not returned yet.

It has solved our problem and it is running fine now.

Hi, thanks for the info.

Even in my case, the dxf and pdf was attached to the file. The pdf, stp and dxf was saved on the same folder as the ipt/iam/ide file.

Did you have the same architetture? Or, on your case, all the dxf&pdf was on a dedicated folder?

Yeah, it seams that the attachment that made the 'updating file status' process.

No I have a separate folder for pdf and dxf. And then I removed the permission to see the directories for those who have problems with vault update. Thinking it is a little more problematic with you since you have pdf and dxf in the same folder as ipt and ass. Once you have in the same folder, as well vaulten scan the id number of all files in the folders ...
Either you have to do it the same way and if you do not, then maybe you can give your pdf and dxf a Lifecycles or States so you can control who gets to see those files.
Have just been informed that autodesk thought they had solved the problem, but have returned that they do not have it anyway and it is in their development department.

Hi,

In our case the problem is still exist and Autodesk have not give us a solution.

just asking... did you have a replicated environment? If yes, AVFS o full replica?

Hi,

Thanks for the info. So, in your case:

- you are not in an Replicated Environment. I ask you just to exclude this configuration.

- you solved the problem detaching the attachment. Did you detach the DXF and PDF ? Or only the DXF? Because, I think that you use the native PDF generation from autodesk job processor.

The strange thing is that I have other environment that have the DXF, STP and PDF attached to the file. But only on one environment that I found this kind of problem. The only differences is that this environment in replicated.
