Hi. I am a little confused by what you are trying to find. If you have not checked in the files yet, you won't find them in a Vault search However, you can search Vault, using ctrl F, and add the Property Checked In, Condition on or before (after), and then for Value select a date. This will return a list of all files that meet the condition you choose.

I'm sorry maybe i did not explain it correctly.

I would like to clean up my local workspace. Simplest thing would be, just deleting all local files.
But I don't want to throw away files I never checked into the Vault.

So I was wondering if there is a way to search for files in my workspace that were never checked into the vault?

Unfortunately not a good way.
If you drag and drop all files into Vault (attempting to check in from Windows Explorer), you'll see which are not written in grey and can be checked in right away. Those have either never been checked into Vault before (so they're free range to go in), or you already had them checked out to you (to find which you have checked out you can use the FIND tool CGBenner mentioned above).
All other files that are in Vault and not checked out will show up as restricted (see prompt on the right side) and you can click Yes to check in the ones that aren't. Just FYI, design files checked in like that will lose their relationships/connections, and you'll probably need to re-open the assemblies/drawings/IPNs again to resolve them.

That's not my point.
I don't want to add them to the vault.
I just want to erase all files in my workspace, but not the ones that were NEVER added to the vault.

Try the Windows command at the end of this thread: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-forum/check-workspace-to-see-files-that-have-never-been-checked-in/m-p/10464158/highlight/true#M87148

You may have to look into some Powershell scripting, or other Windows tools to protect your "in workspace, but never checked into Vault" files.

swalton,

Something like that. But to be honest that doesn't work either.
The commandline also adds files to the text file that already have been checked in. See image .

And the example is not the only one, found several in the txt file, which are already in the vault.

Even if I had the correct txt file, i wouldn't know what to do with it?
Because the files are all located in different folders. So i would have to search each one of them separately. Which would take a long time. Or how would i use this txt file to find the ipt's and iam's faster?

The best would be if you could use it in the search engine of windows explorer.

Well after reading your last post this might not be of much more help. But I made an iLogic script that compares files in your work space against Vault to get a better list of files not in Vault. It shouldn't be too hard to modify this to open files not in Vault, though if you have hundreds of files that could take a while to open.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-forum/is-there-a-way-to-identify-what-files-from-my-inventor-working/m-p/10764651#M88557
