Who can have access to Vault Basic

I have used Vault Basic off and on for several years, and the company is talking about using it. But one of the main questions is: Who can have access?

For example: We have a support group for our systems, and sometimes they need access to drawings, but they don't have an AutoCAD license because they are only support.

Can they still have access to view the files and use Autodesk Viewer to do so?

Therefore I think with Vault Basic you cannot grant access to those without Vault Basic installed. You can, however, share individual visualizations through Inventor Menu > Share > Share View, as those are shared on the cloud at https://viewer.autodesk.com

Vault Basic is an entitlement product. The people who are allowed to use Vault Basic are those who are licensed users of the following products.

3DS Max
AutoCAD with Specialized Tools
Inventor Professional
Product Design & Manufacturing Collection

Where I work, we have (3) CAD users and (4) non-CAD users using Vault Basic 2020. So it is possible.

The non-CAD have access to Vault Basic and are using Inventor Read-Only to view the models, drawings, etc.

You can setup different people with certain access rights so they can only view files and not check them out.

Your non-CAD users using Vault Basic are going against the EULA. They should not be using Vault Basic as they do not have a license to any of the products I previously mentioned.

Vault Basic is not a free product.

Is it possible to have the Vault Add-In loaded in Inventor Read-Only Mode 2022? This could be a good solution for our ACAD only users to view 3D models.

And if I have users with flex tokens , can they use Inventor Read-only and Vault Basic? I assume they do not have full version of Inventor installed nor other Autodesk products. Just Inventor Read-only + Vault Basic Client via Flex tokens. Would that be against the EULA?

I want to open files from Vault Client without using full Inventor. i dont need Add-in for Inventor Read-only

You can’t install the basic client without a qualiyifing cad application

Inventor read only is not one of them

You would need to install full inventor

Vault Basic is an entitlement to users of the CAD products, like Inventor and AutoCAD.

If the user is not a full user of the CAD product, they are not entitled to use Vault Basic.
