Vault 2023.1 Update is Released

Hi All,

Happy to let you all know that Vault 2023.1 Update is live now and you can get from ADA and Accounts portal.

Vault 2023.1 Update brings many enhancements to the already existing features and workflows based on customer’s suggestions including Job Processor, Copy Design, Thin Client and addin.

We found that when we updated to 2023.1 we lost the ability to drag folder structures from our system into a vault folder. I was able to duplicate the reported issue from one of our designers. I created a test folder in Vault using Autodesk Vault Professional 2023 (client) without running updates. After the install selected a number of folders we use as our typical folder structure for each, what we call "Site", that lives on our server. Dragged and dropped and success. Ran the 2023.1 update from Autodesk Desktop App and attempted the same to a newly created folder. The "Add Files - Multiple Files" dialog appeared but indicates that there are 0 objects. No folders or their subfolders added to the new "Site".

@a_garcia2 Are you trying to drag and drop the folders from C drive? If you move the folder structures to other than C are you able to drag and drop?

Anyways can you please share a video of your workflow? That might help us in understanding the issue better.

I was trying to drag and drop from my Desktop initially but had the exact same issue when I tried from the server or an external drive. I've created a Screencast for you, let me know if you need anything else.

This is interesting. One last try. Can you try the same workflow with Default Theme instead of Light or Dark Theme?

Also is it in specific machine or all machines?

Thanks. We just reproduced it. Network location is the issue for 2023.1. As a workaround please use local folders for now till we fix this issue in the next update. Thanks again.

Other workaround if you want to use it in network.

- Map the network folder to a Drive ( Say Z)

- Create a Dummy new folder

- Move the required folder structure inside that new folder.

Now try Drag and Drop. It should work.

You are absolutely correct. After copying the folders to my desktop I was able to drag and drop to add to vault. Thank you. I'll let the team know.

Testing out the "Has Markup" property. I created several mark ups and they show the glymph in the property panel.

But, when I do a Find on all files that have "Has Markup" is True. It doesn't find them.

Is it broke or am I missing something?

Rebuilding the search indexes fixed the issue. But is that needed? That is what I am checking with Team. Will keep you updated.

Also, great update to the Thin Client for including viewing of BMP, JPG, and PNG, but the exclusion of TIFF is a big misstep...That tends to be more of a common image needed when internal consumers need it from legacy data.

@mflayler Autodesk Viewer doesn't support any Image files for viewing. So we are changing the viewer of image file to Browser. However TIFF is not supported in any browsers except Safari. So if you use Mac then you can view it in browser. But for other browsers it won't work and nothing can be done by us. This is true for Thin Client.

however if you use Thick client (Vault Desktop Client) then TIFF can be viewed in ADR.

Just for what it is worth. In the old times (2003 - can I really call the old times in the new millennium?). Anyway, when Autodesk Consulting came in and helped us get started with Product Stream (aka Vault).........tif was the file that they set us up with when dealing with old scanned images. We don't come across them much anymore, but they are out there on legacy stuff. Is it a show stopper for us....NO, but just something we will have to deal with.

It does clarify that the Autodesk viewer is a regression in the Thin Client for some file formats. Companies with large amount of scanned drawings in this format will need to use something else other than the Thin client for viewing and potentially desynchronize this from their Vault.

Somewhat odd...you CAN view TIF files in Autodesk Docs which is also web based. Might be worth looking to see if the Thin Client can leverage that technology to do this. I always thought they used the same large model viewer.

Just to clarify for all....

Thick Client and Forge Viewer will view .tif's.

Thin Client will not.
