BUG/ISSUE: Thumbnails category have huge white spaces on each side.

Hello. I have an issue with the thumbnails in Vault 2023 PRO.

The thumbnails have white spaces around them and take up a HUGE amount of space. See picture below.

If i try and resize the width they just become smaller and still white spaces on the sides:

Also, if i drag and drop width of the column it jumps and gets much longer. So if i grab the line where you rezise and drop it on the "L" in tumbnaiL it get this wide

I am using an ultrawide monitor with 3440x1440 resolution.

Here is the same vault from a computer with a normal 16:9 resolution (4k). (this is how it is supposed to be)

I dont know if the resolution have anything to do with it or if there is something else causing this.

Anyone from autodesk got any idea on what I can try here? Since we use a simple numbering scheeme I rely on the thumbnails find parts easier.

The size of the thumbnail, I believe, is directly related to the ultra-wide resolution you are using. These thumbnails appear to be the images created by the OS, such as Windows Explorer and are created based on the screen size and resolution setting. There is no setting in Vault for modifying this.

Here are two things to try.

1. Switch the theme to Dark. This will show you if there is extra white space around the thumbnail.

2. Reset the view. Right-click on any column header. Click Customize View. Click the Reset button.

Add the Thumbnail property again.

Thumbnails created by the os are not ultra-wide. This and does not seem to be the cause.

If i drag the length of the window it changes the amount of blank space on each side. So i can make it "square" with all the other colums squashed. This can not be the intended behaviour. The thumbnail tab shound not auto resize.

This is on another computer using a 27" 2K resolution display.

EDIT: Forgot to add that reseting the view and adding thumbnails again does not work.

Right-click on any column and select Customize View
Click the Other Settings button
Uncheck the Automatic Column Sizing option

This fixes the issue of the wide thumbnails. Although this also disables auto-resize for all other text colums that you want to resize with the window size.

You would want to set desired size of your thumbnail size and then that should not auto-resize. Same way like like vault status, entity icon, category glyph is not affected by resizing. I cant se any reason for autoresize to behave this way on thumbnails.

Is it possible to make this change in an upcoming patch? I dont believe it worked like this in Vault Workgroup 2023 but I might be wrong.

It has always worked this way. The Thumbnail column is not treated as a special column and I believe it might be possible that some thumbnails may be bigger than others hence the ability for them the column to be resized.

Thanks again for the help. I guess this will have to work. It just felt very different with the thumbnails going from Vault WG to PRO. Might have just been me then.
